Spring has arrived, and with it, the High-Risk Weather Season across Australia. The 2024-25 disaster season is predicted to set new records for extreme weather across the country. Fortunately, Mitsubishi Motors Australia’s partner Disaster Relief Australia (DRA), a veteran-led disaster recovery not-for-profit, is ready to help. But this season, the need for DRA’s services is expected to grow like never before.

In response, we’re bolstering our support for DRA with a brand-new fleet of eight All-New Tritons, enhancing DRA's operational capability in time for the challenging months ahead. The vehicles, donated at the Mitsubishi Motors headquarters in Adelaide, will support disaster-affected Australians nationwide.

Disaster Relief Australia in Action

DRA plays a crucial role in responding to and helping communities recover from natural disasters and emergencies. From bushfires to floods, their dedicated teams of volunteers jump into action immediately after a natural disaster strikes. DRA often continues to support communities for months or even years following a disaster, helping the people impacted rebuild their lives.

Relief teams assist with a wide range of tasks including, search and rescue operations, providing emergency care, distributing supplies, and helping to rebuild damaged infrastructure. Their tireless work - in challenging and dangerous conditions - embodies the spirit of community resilience and human compassion.

A Partnership Built on Service

For five years, Mitsubishi Motors Australia has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with DRA, providing vital vehicle support.

This partnership, born in the wake of the devastating 2019-2020 Black Summer Bushfires, has grown significantly. Since 2020, Mitsubishi vehicles in DRA's fleet have covered more than a million kilometres collectively across Australia’s toughest terrain, with over 105,000 kilometres logged so far in 2024 alone.

Making a Difference Across Australia Together

Our collaboration with DRA is one of Mitsubishi Motors Australia’s most important partnerships because it helps Australian communities get back on their feet after natural disasters and emergencies.

The All-New Tritons are more than just vehicles. They're a lifeline for DRA's operations and are uniquely suited for the demanding work of disaster relief. The vehicles will save DRA hundreds of thousands of dollars in operating costs every year and enable the not-for-profit to deploy its volunteers where they’re needed most.

Equipped with the Super Select II 4WD System, the All-New Tritons can switch seamlessly between 2WD and 4WD modes at speeds up to 100 km/h and adapt quickly to changing terrain. With a wading depth of up to 600mm and the ability to tow 3.5 tonnes, these Utes can navigate flood waters and haul essential supplies or clear debris in affected areas. Tough, resilient and capable, the All-New Tritons are the perfect vehicles for DRA’s dedicated volunteers, enabling them to operate in extremely harsh environments and return home safely.
